The objective of this literature review was to identify therapeutic management techniques for systemic disorders in elderly felines. To this end, scientific literature was collected from recognized academic databases such as Scopus, SciELO, RedALyC, ResearchRabbit, Google Scholar, and Elicit. Open access publications and articles available through institutional subscriptions were considered. Priority was given to documents published between 2019 and 2025 that addressed the topic under study. Combinations of keywords in Spanish and English were developed to optimize the retrieval of relevant information, combined with Boolean operators (AND, OR) in equations such as: (“geriatric felines” OR “geriatric felines”) AND (“systemic pathologies in felines” OR “systemic pathologies in felines”). The results of the review show that several diseases can affect geriatric felines, such as chronic kidney disease, which must be managed with a renal diet; Hyperthyroidism, for which radioiodine is the preferred curative treatment; systemic hypertension, where amlodipine is the antihypertensive of choice; type II diabetes mellitus, which is managed with basal insulin (glargine) combined with a low-carbohydrate diet; and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy/CHM, which includes management with beta-blockers and anticoagulants. In addition, therapeutic management in these cases consists of blood pressure monitoring, appropriate diet, and hydration. It is concluded that geriatric cats are susceptible to various systemic disorders, but with appropriate and timely therapeutic management, their health can be maintained.
