Territorial planning and predictive models in logistics distribution networks of emerging economies in Latin America

The optimization of logistics distribution networks in emerging economies of Latin America faces structural challenges linked to territorial heterogeneity, infrastructure gaps, and the limited integration of advanced analytical tools in decision-making. This article presents a systematic literature review conducted under the PRISMA 2020 protocol, with the aim of identifying, analyzing, and synthesizing scientific evidence on the use of territorial planning and predictive models in the design and optimization of logistics distribution networks in emerging economies of Latin America during the period 2015–2025. Four databases were consulted: Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and SciELO/Redalyc. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 47 articles were selected for final analysis. The findings reveal three dominant trends: the growing incorporation of territorial variables in hub location models, the consolidation of hybrid predictive approaches, and the emergence of integrated methodological frameworks. It is concluded that solid evidence exists regarding the effectiveness of these approaches, although gaps persist in contexts of high informality and territorial fragmentation.
